Hello beautiful people,
Today everything comes together in weird ways. It is Orthodox Easter, Mother’s Day in some parts of the world and Liberation Day in the Netherlands. I am addressing none of these. My intros are a bit short. Not because I must attend church, hang out with my Mum or go to a festival, but because the garden keeps calling. Which, not to spoil the surprise, will be the theme of next week’s newsletter. I am struggling to find enough space for all seeds, so I am ploughing my way through clumps of upturned grass, rocks, and gravel. Even on a Sunday.
Before we dive into this week’s roundup for Sunday Brunch:
Bence and Banhi are almost good to go.
They have had all their vaccines, including rabies. They are chipped, have a passport and are allowed to leave the country after May 16th. BUT: the adoption for Banhi fell through unfortunately… looks like the girl is stuck with me a little longer. If you are a loving human looking for a dog, they don’t come any better (or more beautiful) than her.
I don’t know what to hope for…. better paid jobs so I can afford to keep her or a super good home for her somewhere else…
I will keep you posted!

COLUMN
Oh oh oh, I have become a Crazy Cat Lady. I have turned into the dreaded single woman of a certain age cliché. Help!

SNIPPET
One photo and one video. Even for a wordy wizard like me, sometimes an image tells more than a thousand words…

JOURNAL
A regular day, a religious ritual called my morning routine. And yes it takes three coffees to kick start my day…

FUTURE REFERENCE
I don’t just write, I also read a lot. Here a few things that have caught my attention and linger. I might circle back to them in future posts or follow up with related external content.
Pets & Politics
This one is not for the faint of heart. I sank into depression after having Mami, my foster street dog, put down. I decided not to sell my house because I want to watch over her grave (and that of the sibling cats buried next to her). When suffering needs to end, I agree with having animals put down. But the cold, cruel and callous approach of Kristi Noem gave me the chills….

Ode to a Pet
On the opposite end of the spectrum we find this heart-warming tale of a beloved animal. I did not only enjoy reading it, I love that it features in a national newspaper. It matters.

Cat Humour
I have been following Jonathan Edward Durham for a while no wand really appreciate the tender lightness of his sense of humour. One to follow for sure. And not just if you like cats (he is a big fan of books and coffee too and not big on obligatory socialising).

Dogs and Cats of of New York
The life of post pandemic New York pets is not an easy one. Here a joing item on the topic, leading you to two different publications. One from a while back (last year even), but still so relevant and one more recent.

Rock on and kick ass, whatever the week will bring. And give your pets an extra hug from me!
